Description

With the E-3 Sentry and E-4 Doomsday (based on a fuel guzzling 707 and 747-200B, which were modified) nearing retirement age and needing of a AWACS and a Decision Center widebody operations, and the Airbus A380 and Boeing 777X being too large (in case of 777X, despite of being cheaper than A380), or too expensive to operate (in A380 case). The United States Air Force issued in 2014, a specification for an LAWACS&DEC (Large Airborne Warning and Control System and Decision Center), which had to be twin-engined.

Of course Airbus/EADS submitted a military surveillance version of A350-1000 XWB, called A350-1000 XW-AEW&C (Xtra Wide Airborne Early Warning and Control), even the fact of the aircraft had Rolls-Royce Engine (would be manufactured in Allison division of Rolls-Royce in Indianapolis, IN) didn't stop that bid.
Boeing declined to bid as the company claimed to have losses in defense sector (lost F-15 bid in South Korea to Lockheed F-35) and the fact that won't be faster enough to produce a rivalry design to fly.

The A350-1000 XW-AEW&C was accepted by the USAF (after talks with Airbus Military to add the Decision Center option) in August 10, 2015, and designated as EADS E-51A SuperXWB.

U.S. Plants to build parts of the aircraft and final assembly of the aircraft (in accordance to Buy American Act of 1933):

(This aircraft is fictional and doesn't exist in reality)
